Description

If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, Greenwood’s Inn on the Square is where you’ll find it. A boutique hotel in an elegantly designed historical building, it re-opened in October 2015 after a renovation and its colorful character has made it a visitors’ favorite. Tucked away from the interstate, Inn on the Square is surrounded by natural beauty and steeped in the warmth and friendliness of the Greenwood community. (Plus: if you plan your trip in December, you’ll get to see the holiday Gingerbread House display!)

Ready to unwind in the upstate? We’ve got your weekend itinerary right here:

FRIDAY

Check in to the hotel and ask for the room with an “uptown view” that overlooks the historic oak-lined street. Once you’ve settled in, head downstairs for a signature cocktail or glass of wine in the hotel’s Fox & Hound lounge, relaxing to the sounds of one of the city’s local musicians. You’ll want to stick around for the hotel’s famous “Fish Fryday”, either in the lounge or in the dining room for a more intimate dining experience. Dinner is served with salad and dessert starting at 9.99.

SATURDAY

Sleep in and revel in the hotel’s complimentary cooked to order breakfast served downstairs in the dining room. After a delicious meal, put on a pair of comfy shoes and head to Uptown Greenwood for some serious shopping at the boutiques lining Main Street. Explore the Uptown Market for local fresh finds ranging from produce to homemade treasures.  Stop in at Howards on Main and split a #5 for lunch.

Continue your afternoon of shopping at Main and Maxwell, or one of the many galleries. Check with the front desk at the Inn and see what live entertainment or events are scheduled for the weekend. On any given weekend, there’s lots of action in Uptown. Catch a play at the Greenwood Community Theater, live music at Music on Maxwell, or a performance by Greenwood Performing Arts.

In the evening, swing into Flynn’s on Maxwell for a complimentary wine tasting, then continue down Maxwell Avenue to the Mill House and Good Times Brewing to savor the flavors of a hand-tossed pizza and sample their home-brewed beer selection. You’ll have over 20 craft beers to choose from that are made on-site, including their famous Blood Moon IPA.

Head back to your hotel to get a restful night’s sleep. You’ve had a big day!

What are you waiting for? Plan your getaway to South Carolina’s Freshwater Coast. We can’t wait to welcome you.
