Lake J. Strom Thurmond is located on the border of South Carolina and Georgia on the Savannah River. This 42,564 acre reservoir is owned and constructed by US Army Corps of Engineers. Lake Thurmond is one of the nation’s largest inland bodies of water. Lake Thurmond stretches nearly 40 miles up the Savannah River and 26 miles up Little River.
