Willington on the Way in McCormick County, South Carolina is a spot in the road along SC Highway 81 that draws you to the past era of the French Huguenots settling in this region. Stop for a while and visit the restored buildings going back the heyday of the railroad era. The Willington History Center and Annex has just introduced two new historical dioramas: The New Bordeaux Huguenot Village (c. 1765) and the Willington Academy (c. 1810). The Railroad and Post Office Center features a diorama of Willington (c. 1915) and many interesting post office artifacts. The African American Cultural Center and the Willington Bookshop provide an opportunity to spend some time in this historical center. All of the buildings are open Wednesday-Saturday 11am-3pm.
