04 Feb Old 96 District’s Golf Courses-Stop Missing Out!
Golf is a game that can be hard to understand if you do not play it regularly! It takes patience, a little skill and about 3 hours to complete! The dictionary defines golf as “a game played on a large open-air course, in which a small hard ball is struck with a club into a series of small holes in the ground, the object being to use the fewest possible strokes to complete the course.” Does that sound like fun? Maybe. As someone who learned to play in my early teenage years, it is a wonderful activity to spend time outside alone or with others. The art of precision is rewarding to hone, and just surrounding myself with beautiful nature is worth half the cost to play! If you havent played golf before, stop missing out- now is as good a time as any try something new, and Old 96 District’s golf ocurses are a great place to start!
Here in the Old 96 District, you will find three 18-hole championship courses, and several 9-hole courses with fun and challenging design. Our home in the Upper Western part of South Carolina means that most of our courses are within an hour-ish from the Augusta National Golf Club. The Masters is just around the corner, and we invite you to choose one of our courses for your next (or first!) fun golf outing. Spend some time enjoying these different terrains.
Let’s take a look at 4 of our championship courses:
Hunters Creek Golf & Country Club is located just outside of Greenwood SC. It offers terrific views and a challenging course for those golfers at various skill levels. The fairways are a bit difficult, yet they can also be very friendly. The knowledgeable staff can give you a few tips and tricks for getting the best experience.
Savannah Lakes Village offers two 18-hole championship golf courses, each with breathtaking views of Lake Thurmond and the local forests. The site also includes driving ranges and a flexible setup to suit your skill level. Considering they’re only an hour away from Augusta, Georgia, their confidence as a priemiere golf experience in the Southeast is a big deal.
One of the most picturesque public play golf courses in the Upstate of South Carolina with several holes located on Lake Greenwood. There are certain challenging holes on this well-manicured golf course, making for an adventure. The course is in immaculate condition from the tee box to the green.
This course is nestled in the heart of the only State Park in South Carolina that is also a resort! This means once you’re finished with 18-holes of rolling hills and lakefront golfing, a wide array of other activities wait ready to fill your afternoon. Shoot skeet, swim on Lake Thurmond, hike the trails, or stay a night in one of their cabins.
Whether you’re new to the sport, a dedicated fan, or only play twice a year, golfing in the Old 96 District is sure to result in a good time!
