26 Jun Greenwood, SC’s Signature Topiaries
What puts your town on the map? For Greenwood, South Carolina, their signature summer topiary display is definitely one of them. Their summery debut comes alongside the South Carolina Festival of Flowers, a weeks-long celebration from June 1 to July 12. While various events, crafters, music performers, and other entertainment features come and go each year, the topiaries are a staple to the event, named one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events in June 10 years in a row.
Most of the topiaries are displayed
in the heart of Uptown Greenwood, a historic Main Street with a variety of restaurants, shops, and self-care spots. (We think it makes a perfect girlfriend getaway, if that’s up your alley.) Wander through locally-owned businesses, peek inside their art gallery, and enjoy the scenery!
While the pandemic affected many of the festival events this year, the topiaries have remained a constant. Displays vary from cute, cuddly pandas and a beautiful mermaid to a massive tiger and giraffes! Seeing such beauty on our streets fills us with pride and joy.
