Downtown Laurens, South Carolina is a historic community with roots that go back to the mid-18th century. Five roads intersect that lead to a charming and vibrant public square that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While still proud of its history, downtown Laurens is not resting on its laurels and living in the past. The public square is a beehive of activity with more than 140,000 square feet of commercial space housing unique shops, corner cafes, fine dining, and popular pubs.
South Carolina and the Old 96 District have a long history with moonshine, and Abbeville’s Red Barn Likker (RBL) carries on that tradition today. In addition to the liquors and straight ‘shine’ they distill on site, they offer a selection of signature flavors, including strawberry and peach.
Don’t know much about moonshine or whiskey? No problem! RBL is a great place to learn. Take a peek at the double diamond still, and then sit down to one of the tasting sessions with their knowledgeable staff to sample a number of house-made spirits and mixers to decide which to take home. They even sell moonshine scented cologne!
Red Barn Likker is located at 101 Court Square in Abbeville, SC 29620, and is open Thursday–Saturday, 11AM to 7PM.
