The Holiday Season Comes Alive in South Carolina Old 96 District
The Christmas decorations have long been in the stores but in the South Carolina Old 96 District, the holiday season comes alive when December 1 arrives. Lots of fun activities and events will put you in the holiday spirit. There is something for the youngsters and the young at heart.
Begin the festivities with a “Coney Island Christmas” presented by the Abbeville Opera House. Play performances are December 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16. For ticket information call the Opera House at 864-852-2835.
Enjoy the Christmas parade in Edgefield on December 3. See locals use their artistic skills to create some of the best floats in the country.
Greenwood celebrates the season with wagon rides, photos with Santa, a Christmas Market at the Uptown Farmers’ Market and Tree Lighting featuring live music. The Greenwood Community Theatre will present “Miracle on 34th Street” on December 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10. The Greenwood Railroad Historical Center is featuring The Polar Express December 1-2. You will also not want to miss the Gingerbread House event at the Inn on the Square. There are many gingerbread houses to see and maybe, even taste!
The Laurens Christmas Parade will take place on Main Street on December 2 at 5pm. Come see Christmas as you have never seen it before as local folks get into the holiday spirit with many different traditions!
McCormick ushers in the season December 1-3 with a Festival of Trees, Craft Show, Art Trot, Tree Lighting and Holiday on Main event. SC Wild’s Heritage Center is presenting An Old-Fashioned Christmas and the Community Chorus will sing a Christmas concert.
