The Farmhouse at Bush River is the perfect, quiet get-away between the mountains and the shore, an ideal place to stay when celebrating a special day, visiting Presbyterian College, or golfing at Musgrove Mill Golf Club.
The Farmhouse has an understated charm accented with stained glass, iron and stone work, cabinetry and furnishings made by local artisans. Rooms are decorated with a mix of Irish and English antiques and original art. Without clutter, simple and appealing, everything you might need is provided. Each room is complimented with a luxurious queen bed, fine Egyptian cotton sheets, warm alpaca blankets, a writing table, private bath, ceiling fans, plush robes, hair dryer, iron, flat screen TV, wireless internet, not to mention lovely views. A local certified masseuse is available to give you a personal massage.
Bush River Farm is a working farm specializing in registered Huacaya alpaca and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Alpacas are native to the Andean mountains of Chile, Peru and Bolivia. Alpaca fiber is fine and beautiful, often called the world’s softest fiber. Nigerian Dwarf goats are just plain fun. A wonderful milker, they raise these little goats for pets. They give their visitors great delight as they nuzzle your hand!.
Chef Janet has been cooking her whole life and thoroughly enjoys cooking for family, friends and especially guests. She was professionally trained at the University of South Carolina Culinary Institute. She has catered many diverse events as well as teaching a course at Presbyterian College, “Tasting the World One Bite at a Time.” Her cooking classes at the Farmhouse have been popular. Students receive hands on participation, recipes, tips and of course the tastings. Cooking weekends may be arranged in advance. A cooking weekend would include a 2-nights stay at the Farmhouse plus an all-day Saturday cooking class with a wonderful gourmet dinner which you will cook (a minimum of 4). $450 includes 2 nights stay, full gourmet breakfast, class, Saturday lunch and dinner.
Several common rooms are provided for your enjoyment. The parlor offers a game table, cable TV, phone and refreshments. If you are in the mood for a game of billiards or a pint of Guinness you are welcome in the Pub game room. Billiards, cable TV, and darts all await you in an intriguing atmosphere.
The striking dining room houses a 14-foot handmade table where you will be served a fireside gourmet breakfast. Sample gingerbread pancakes with an apple/raisin syrup, boursin egg frittata, or a smoked salmon crepe. Breakfast is the best meal of the day!
