06 Jun Satisfy Your Thirst
We’re heading into another sweltering Southern summer, and you’re probably already looking for ways to beat the heat. Cool down with an ice-cold craft beer, cocktail, or ‘shine from South Carolina’s Freshwater Coast!
Experience the charm and hospitality of Old 96 District through the brewery and distillery scene. We’ve got hot spots that will satisfy your thirst with creative concoctions for every palate:
Carolina Moon Distillery strives to preserve a Southern tradition of distilling that remains “above the bar.” Founders/distillers David Long and Cal Bowie personally oversee each batch from start to finish, priding themselves on using only the heart of the batch rather than the whole run to yield the best spirits possible. Try the Ten G’s vodka—named after Edgefield’s contribution to South Carolina politics with 10 governors or lieutenant governors—or the Tally Ho Carolina bourbon, which pays homage to the fox hunts of Aiken.
Good Times Brewing is a brewery at The Mill House in Greenwood. Good Times started off with a straightforward selection of beers like a blonde and Russian stouts, but quickly moved on to brews that source local ingredients like Not Your Granny’s Peach Cobbler, and locally hopped Migration IPA. Good Times keeps 14-18 beers on tap with regulars like their Blood Moon IPA and rotating seasonal brews like King Jim’s Octoberfest. Check out their 10-barrel brew house expansion next door at 233 Maxwell Ave.
Whether you’re thirsty for an ice-cold ale, or looking for the kind of satisfaction that only comes from local moonshine, you’re sure to find it on South Carolina’s Freshwater Coast.
Plan your trip now. We can’t wait to welcome you!
